Patrick Schlesinger

Patrick Schlesinger leads the Office of Research Administration and Compliance at UC Berkeley. That office includes Berkeley’s Sponsored Projects Office, Office for the Protection of Human Subjects, Office of Animal Care and Use, the Conflict of Interest Committee, and the Export Control unit. Schlesinger also serves as the campus Research Integrity Officer. In that role, he oversees research misconduct investigations and Berkeley’s Responsible Conduct of Research program.

Schlesinger joined the University in 1996 and worked in the Office of the General Counsel. Prior to joining UC Berkeley, Schlesinger was a partner in the San Francisco law firm of Landels, Ripley and Diamond and worked as a staff attorney for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of General Counsel and Office of Air and Radiation in Washington, D.C.

Schlesinger received his JD from the George Washington University Law School in 1987 and graduated from San Diego State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Music and majors in Music and American History. Schlesinger is a board member of the Council on Government Relations and is the chair of its Contracts and Intellectual Property Committee.
