Slow Art Day
Join Sunnylands in celebrating Slow Art Day in collaboration with the local poetry group, The Wordkeepers.
Saturday, April 12, 9 am-2 pm
Slow Art Day is a nationwide event that invites you to slow down, forget about time, and immerse yourself in art at your own pace.
Drawing inspiration from Agnes Denes’ The Living Pyramid—a work created by an artist whose first medium was poetry—The Wordkeepers will set up a booth with materials for visitors to create their own poems reflecting on the art at Sunnylands and express what you see or feel through writing. The Living Pyramid was installed at Sunnylands as part of the Desert X 2025 exhibition.
Local poets will be present to offer guidance in creating a poem and will be performing their poetry as inspired throughout the day.
All activities are free of charge. Admission and parking are free. Reservations not required. Program changes may require the cancellation or rescheduling of some events.
Outdoor programs may be canceled or modified due to weather conditions, including rain, lightning, or strong winds.
