Films in the Gardens—Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
Our Films in the Gardens murder mystery series, featuring three weeks of classics based on the novels of Agatha Christie, begins with a screening of Murder on the Orient Express (1974) on September 16 at 7:30 pm on the Great Lawn.
Free of charge, Films in the Gardens runs for three consecutive Friday evenings in September.
- September 16 at 7:30 pm—Murder on the Orient Express (1974)—In December 1935, when his transcontinental luxury train is stranded by deep snow, detective Hercule Poirot is called on to solve a murder that occurred in his car the night before, with a multitude of suspects (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 2 hours 8 minutes.
- September 23 at 7:30 pm—Death on the Nile (1978)—As Hercule Poirot enjoys a luxurious cruise down the Nile, a newlywed heiress is found murdered on board. Can Poirot identify the killer before the ship reaches the end of its journey? (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 2 hours 20 minutes.
- September 30 at 7:30 pm—Evil Under the Sun (1982)— Trying to find how a millionaire wound up with a phony diamond brings Hercule Poirot to an exclusive island resort frequented by the rich and famous. When a murder is committed, everyone has an alibi (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 1 hour 57 minutes.
Gates open at 6 pm. Films begin at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Reservations are not required. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Please note, parking at the gate or along Bob Hope Drive will not be permitted.
No food or seating provided. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not permitted.
Films may be canceled at any time due to weather conditions, including rain, lightning, or strong winds.
Films in the Gardens is presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
