Family Day: In the Gardens

Sunnylands celebrates Earth Day with a focus on the native ecosystems of the Coachella Valley. Enjoy a day filled with fun activities, including games, arts and crafts, and guided bird walks, all set in the beauty of the Sunnylands gardens.

Sunday, April 20, 9 am-2 pm

Guests will be able to participate in the following activities:

  • Guided bird walks with Sunnylands birder Kurt Leuschner
    • 10 am and 12 pm: one hour walk around the gardens
  • Ink made of plants, created by Jai Knight ARTS
  • Build your own essential oil roller with Molly Moon Crafts
  • Guided instruction by Kinfolk Workshop to create biodegradable pots made of compostable materials
  • S.C.R.A.P. Gallery will be leading a “Bee the Change” community project and distribute wildflower seed packets
  • Potting succulents with Los Angeleaves
  • Hands-on clay seed bomb making with Environmental Educator and clay artist Venessa Becerra
  • Information and interaction with a variety of desert life species provided by the Hoggans Family

All Family Day activities are free of charge. Admission and parking are free. Reservations not required. Program changes may require the cancellation or rescheduling of some events.

Outdoor programs may be canceled or modified due to weather conditions, including rain, lightning, or strong winds.
