Art Workshop: Botanical Illustration in a Desert Garden
Learn how to observe and document plants like the botanist-explorers of centuries ago. On April 4, from 9:30 to 11:30 am, participants will receive a specimen with which to document, sketch, and capture nature's colors. Participants will go home with a plant study and instructions to use on their next sketching trip to Sunnylands. This workshop takes place outdoors. Adequate sun protection and water are recommended.

Tania Marien has encouraged an interest in plants through art, science, and interpretation since 2002. For 16 years, she served as full-time editor and educator at ArtPlantae, a resource she founded for artists, naturalists, and educators. Tania has introduced the public to plants and botanical art at environmental education events, botanical gardens, museums, STEM events, and a national park. Currently, she hosts conversations with independent educators working in natural resource fields and environmental education on the podcast, Talaterra.
