Sunnylands mourns the passing of U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein

The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands extends is sincerest condolences to the family and friends of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, who visited Sunnylands many times as an honored guest.

Sen. Feinstein, who died Friday at the age of 90, will be remembered for a career of exceptional public service to California and the nation, and will be missed by the many Californians she served in the Senate.

The San Francisco Democrat was one of several political luminaries who gathered at Sunnylands in 2003 to discuss California’s changing demographics, economic challenges, religious diversity, and its role in homeland security. Along with 30 state lawmakers, the bipartisan gathering included then-Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, former President Gerald Ford, former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz, and Feinstein’s colleague in the Senate, Barbara Boxer.

Sen. Feinstein also visited Sunnylands for campaign-related events.

In appreciation, Sen. Feinstein wrote the following on a 2005 photo she took with Leonore Annenberg in front of the fireplace at Sunnylands: “To Lee – One great woman! Thank you!”
