While the world has made admirable progress in combating hunger and food insecurity in recent years, the global food system remains challenged. In response, Sunnylands partnered with the James Beard Foundation to host more than twenty leaders from across the global food security and development fields, alongside world-class chefs and culinary experts, to discuss how the culinary sector can support global food security, promote agriculture and development, and create a more sustainable future food system.
Specifically, this retreat on February 16-18, 2018, examined the unique skills and expertise that chefs and the culinary sector may offer the effort to combat food insecurity, and how food systems experts and technologists can cooperate with chefs and food security advocates to craft a compelling vision for reforms that resonate with consumers.
