Films in the Gardens: Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Our free Films in the Gardens series returns for another season in September, featuring a trio of films that are set amongst the trees.
The theme is inspired by the exhibition Curating Canopy: Trees at Sunnylands.
Films in the Gardens runs for three consecutive Friday evenings in September. This series continues with a screening of Sleepy Hollow (1999) on September 19 at 7:30 pm.
- September 12 at 7:30 pm – Poltergeist (1982) – A family’s home becomes the center of paranormal activity that opens a doorway to the “other side.” With help, they must cross over to get their daughter back. (IMDb). Rated: PG. Run time: 1 hour 54 minutes.
- September 19 at 7:30 pm – Sleepy Hollow (1999) – Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people; the culprit is a legendary apparition, The Headless Horseman. (IMDb). Rated: R. Run time: 1 hour 45 minutes.
- September 26 at 7:30 pm – Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) – In 1944 Spain, a girl is sent to live with her ruthless stepfather. During the night, she meets a fairy who takes her to an old faun. He tells her she’s a princess but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. (IMDb). Rated: R. Run time: 1 hour 58 minutes.
Gates open at 6 pm. Film begins at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Reservations are not required. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Please note, parking at the gate or along Bob Hope Drive will not be permitted.
No seating is provided. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not permitted.
The café will be open for Films in the Gardens. An assortment of prepackaged popcorn, snacks, candy, and beverages will be available for purchase. Open from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.
Films in the Gardens is presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Parking and admission are free.
