Ralph Cicerone, Sunnylands retreat participant, dies at 73
Ralph J. Cicerone, a former president of the National Academy of Sciences who died Saturday at age 73, was one of the first scientists to warn the nation about the effects of climate change. He was at the helm of a Sunnylands retreat on ensuring the integrity of science in February 2015.

“As a distinguished scientist, whose work helped the nations of the world address the ozone hole and as convener of efforts such as the National Academy of Sciences-Sunnylands retreat on protecting the integrity of science, Ralph Cicerone reminded us of science’s role in enhancing the well-being of the planet and its inhabitants,” said Sunnylands Director of Programs Kathleen Hall Jamieson. “We at Sunnylands celebrate his life’s accomplishments and mourn his passing.”
