Films in the Gardens—Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)

Our free Films in the Gardens program returns with a trio of back-to-school films from the 1980s. The series begins with a screening of Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) on September 15 at 7:30 pm.

Free of charge, Films in the Gardens runs for three consecutive Friday evenings in September.

  • September 15 at 7:30 pm—Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)—When Keith goes out with Amanda, the girl of his dreams, Amanda’s ex-boyfriend plans to get back at Keith. Meanwhile, Keith’s best friend, tomboy Watts, realizes she has feelings for Keith (IMDb). Rated: PG-13. Run time: 1 hour 35 minutes.
  • September 22 at 7:30 pm—Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)—A popular high school student decides to take a day off from school, going to extreme lengths to it pull off, much to the chagrin of his principal who will do anything to stop him (IMDb). Rated: PG-13. Run time: 1 hour 43 minutes.
  • September 29 at 7:30 pm—The Breakfast Club (1985)—Five high school students meet in Saturday detention and discover how they have a great deal more in common than they thought (IMDb). Rated: R. Run time: 1 hour 37 minutes.

Gates open at 6 pm. Film begins at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Reservations are not required. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Please note, parking at the gate or along Bob Hope Drive will not be permitted.

No food or seating provided. Filmgoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and small picnics. Large coolers, alcohol, smoking, and pets are not permitted.

Films in the Gardens is presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Parking and admission are free.
