Nicholas Hanson
Nicholas Hanson is the director of agronomy and landscape at Sunnylands. Prior to joining Sunnylands, Nick was the head golf course superintendent at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations for the resort’s 27-hole golf course. During his tenure at Omni, the golf course was flooded twice, and Nick managed the reconstruction efforts. Prior to his work at Omni, Nick was the superintendent at The O’Donnell Golf Club in downtown Palm Springs, the oldest golf course in the Coachella Valley.
Nick relocated to the Coachella Valley in 2013 from Apple Valley, California, where he served as golf course superintendent at Apple Valley Country Club for seven years. Overall, Nick has 20 years of experience in the golf industry, having held various positions in golf operations. He is an active member of the local and national Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSA) and held a board position with the local chapter from 2014 to 2016. Nick holds a bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture with an emphasis in turf grass management from Cal Poly Pomona.
