    Plans to donate $500 million to the American public school system, the largest gift to the public ever made in this country, are drafted at Sunnylands. The gift is announced in a White House Ceremony with President Clinton on December 17, 1993.

    President Ronald Reagan signs a landmark free trade agreement with Canada--a precursor to NAFTA--and announces it to the nation during his New Year's radio address from Sunnylands.
