On July 12-14, Sunnylands supported EAT to host preparatory discussions in advance of the October 2025 release of The EAT–Lancet Commission on healthy, sustainable, and just food systems, a landmark scientific report defining healthy diets in the context of climate and environmental change. EAT, a global nonprofit dedicated to leveraging science and knowledge to achieve meaningful change to global food systems, is a prior Sunnylands partner and a key driver of global discussions on links between food and planetary health.
Staged at the Borgo Finocchieto estate in Buonconvento, Italy, EAT convened food systems leaders, experts in campaigns, communications, and storytelling, and representatives of EAT and the 2025 EAT-Lancet Commission to review the report’s findings and plan for its public launch.
Participants provided feedback on key findings and recommendations, shared storytelling and communication strategies, and initiated a multi-stakeholder coalition aimed at educating policymakers and the public on the report’s central messages.
While Sunnylands typically serves as a coequal partner in hosting retreats, this convening was notable for our role in providing targeted logistical and facilitation support only, a decision informed by the highly technical scientific materials under discussion.
