In March 2025, Sunnylands welcomed back the Women Leaders in Philanthropy, a cohort of more than twenty women who run major U.S. foundations and philanthropies. The group was formed at a Sunnylands convening in April 2023 in partnership with the Annenberg Foundation, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, and the USC Center on Philanthropy & Public Policy. The April 2023 gathering resulted in the formation of an ongoing community that provides a forum for these leaders to discuss shared strategies and challenges, as well as perspectives and solutions as high-level women leaders in the field of philanthropy.

This second meeting of Women Leaders in Philanthropy was well-timed to address critical issues and opportunities that are facing the philanthropy sector at large, ranging from a changing political landscape and increased social polarization to the uses of artificial intelligence to improve giving and the growing role of women philanthropists.
