Art Workshop: There is a Season—A Creative Meditation

An imaginative way to engage with mindfulness. Learn to creatively explore the changing seasons and how they transform us. Following a short meditation, participants will use painting, drawing, and writing to create a project reflecting one season or, if they choose to do so, they may develop a project exhibiting the four seasons of their lives. A short time at the end of class will be allotted for conversation.

Participants should bring the following materials:

  • 140 lb. watercolor paper
  • Watercolors–in a pan (student quality)
  • Watercolor tubes or watercolor pencils
  • Watercolor brush: Sizes 4, 6, or 8
  • Water and a bowl for water
  • Paper towels

This workshop takes place outside. Sun protection and water are recommended.

Instructor: Judy Nemer Sklar is a professional artist, writer, educator and business owner residing in Palm Desert, California. She is passionate about the creative process and as an owner of a successful business management firm for over 20 years, she believes that creative thinking is highly beneficial for those in non-creative fields. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Chapman University, Orange, California, and a Master of Arts from California State University Dominguez Hills, Los Angeles, California.
