Sunnylands hosted the fifth convening of the Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue, continuing a trusted series launched in 2021 in partnership with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. With three gatherings at Sunnylands and two in Palo Alto, the dialogue has become a respected forum for candid, senior-level exchanges on Indo-Pacific security challenges.

From December 6–8, 2025, Sunnylands welcomed senior defense representatives from U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, the Philippines, Japan, and Australia along with distinguished scholars from the Hoover Institution. Discussions focused on preventing conflict, maintaining regional stability, and safeguarding critical trade routes amid intensifying pressure from China. Across sessions, leaders underscored that real-time coordination, trust, and shared situational awareness among partners are essential to mitigating this risk.

A central outcome of the dialogue was renewed momentum to deepen cooperation among Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and the United States. Participants committed to accelerating technical integration, developing scenario-based playbooks, and strengthening strategic messaging to ensure coordinated responses to potential escalation.
