Ophélie Hémonin

Specialist in multisectoral food and nutrition strategies and policies

Graduated from Sciences-Po Paris, European Affairs, and a holder of a Masters in Languages, Literature and Foreign Civilizations, English; a Masters in Languages, Literature and Foreign Civilizations, German; Ophélie Hémonin cumulates 14 years of professional experience in the international development sector, having worked in Rome, Geneva, Berlin, New York, and Paris. Since December 2020, she works as part of the Food Systems Summit Secretariat team.

From 2018 to 2020, she worked for the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, advising the Francophone portfolio of SUN countries to eradicate all forms of malnutrition through a multi-sectoral approach, in particular through the implementation of legislative frameworks, institutionalization of governance mechanisms, and information and accountability systems at the national and decentralized level, then moving on to coordinate an USD $19 million multi-donor trust fund to support catalytic projects Civil Society projects and multi-stakeholder partnerships in 55 countries of the Movement. From 2014 to 2018, she worked as a food security and nutrition officer with the United Nations Committee on World Food Security (CFS), where she participated in the drafting and negotiation of a number of policy frameworks on food and nutrition security. From 2012 to 2014, she coordinated within the French National Agricultural Research Organization (INRA), a consortium of 13 European research agencies united in the Joint Programming Initiative for Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI).

Between 2007 and 2011, she worked with European Union Institutions (EEAS; EC), NATO, as well as for the German and French foreign ministries in the context of G8, G20, and EU Council Presidencies.
