Liza Youngling

Liza Youngling is the Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Humanities Policy Fellow at the American Academy of Arts & Sciences working in the American Institutions, Society, and the Public Good program area.
Her fellowship has focused on establishing a trust for civic infrastructure and incorporating the perspectives of diverse communities into the Academy’s commissions. She received her BA in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and earned an MA and PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Prior to joining the Academy, Liza taught Anthropology at DePaul University and conducted qualitative research on the role of community stakeholders in the post-2008 housing market recovery in Chicago, Illinois.
