Junior Munoz
Junior Munoz is an assistant superintendent of grounds at Sunnylands. He is a Coachella Valley native who grew up in Indio, studied at College of the Desert and became a decorated U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran.
Junior’s military career took him all over the world. He sailed the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to support humanitarian efforts in Kosovo while on a peacekeeping mission known as Operation Joint Guardian. In the invasion of Fallujah, during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2, he was awarded his third Combat Action Ribbon, as well as many other medals and commendations.
After leaving the military, Junior returned to the Coachella Valley to raise a family and start a new career. While attending College of the Desert, he discovered his passion for horticulture. Junior holds an associate’s degree in environmental horticulture and a certification in turf grass management from College of the Desert. In his spare time, Junior also enjoys fishing and training in Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu.
