Izukanji Sikazwe

Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia

Dr. Sikazwe earned her medical degree from the University of Zambia, School of Medicine. She completed internal medicine specialty training at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland; infectious disease specialty training at the University of Maryland; and has a master’s degree in public health from Michigan State University. Dr. Sikazwe has worked for several years providing direct clinical patient care to people living with HIV and other infectious diseases in both urban and rural communities in Zambia. In addition to her executive management role as the CEO of the Center for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), Dr. Sikazwe is the principal investigator of a PEPFAR/CDC-funded HIV Care and Treatment cooperative agreement focused on transitioning HIV programs to the Ministry of Health. Her research work is focused on implementing science methodologies to improve access to HIV care and understanding patient outcomes.
