François Dabis

Professor of Epidemiology, University of Bordeaux, France

François Dabis is a medical doctor, professor of epidemiology at the School of Public Health (ISPED) of the University of Bordeaux, France. He is past-director of the French National AIDS and Viral Hepatitis Research Agency (ANRS) from 2017 to 2020. He chairs the national strategy for sexual health coordinates for the Ministry of Health and coordinates the public health program against HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections in the southwestern part of France (Nouvelle Aquitaine). Since June 2021, he advises the French government for the recently launched WHO Academy program based in Lyon.

Dr. Dabis has 35 years of experience in research on HIV epidemiology and global health. He has published 785 papers and two leading textbooks in field epidemiology.

He has been for 15 years the PI of the NIH-funded IeDEA West Africa Collaboration. He is a member of the Scientific Program Committee of the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI).
