Barbara Freeman joined Sunnylands after eight years as a senior adviser to the Mayor of Los Angeles, where she managed the Mayor’s 400+ political appointments helping him to assemble the most diverse pool of board and commission members in Los Angeles city history. In addition, as a managing director, she was charged with identifying and implementing a wide range of high-priority initiatives, including working as part of a four-person management team overseeing $611 million in federal economic stimulus funding. Previously, Freeman served as director of political compliance for the law firm Kaufman Downing, LLP and as director of communication and education for the Los Angeles City Ethics Commission. She holds an MBA from Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in Economics from UCLA.
