Admiral Harry B. Harris, USN (ret.)

Admiral Harry Harris served as U.S. Ambassador to South Korea from 2018 to 2021. Prior to his appointment, he served as a four-star admiral in the U.S. Navy, commanding the U.S. Pacific Fleet and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). Admiral Harris was also the first American of Japanese descent to lead USINDOPACOM. Prior to assuming the U.S. Pacific Command in 2015, Admiral Harris had commanded the U.S. Pacific Fleet and the Theater Joint Force Maritime Component since 2013. He has served in every geographic combatant command region and participated in major operations that included S.S. Achille Lauro terrorist hijacking incident, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Odyssey Dawn.
