Historic House Tour
Thursday — Sunday
$48 per person (available online only)
The Historic House Tour is the only tour that takes guests into the house. It is 90 minutes and costs $48 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available only online. Access to the historic house is only by guided tour. Tickets are released in monthly blocks at 9 am Pacific time on the fifteenth of the preceding month. For example, on August 15, tickets are released for all tours in September; on September 15, tickets for October 1-31 are released, etc.
The Tour: Guides take seven visitors on an electric shuttle to the historic house. Tours are small to allow for a more personal experience. During the 90-minute tour, guides offer guests information about items from the Sunnylands Collection, the building's architecture and interior design, and the history of the estate as a private residence and a high-level retreat center.
Tours depart promptly from Sunnylands Center. They are scheduled every 15 minutes from 9:15 to 10:15 am, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, and 1:30 to 2:30 pm. It is suggested that guests arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled tour time. Visitors are reminded that tours take place rain or shine and transportation is in an open-sided vehicle. Tours require guests to walk and stand for more than one hour. Please anticipate walking up to a half-mile. There is no seating in the house. We request that all cell phones be silenced during the tour.
Due to high demand, tickets often sell out on the morning they are released. If you are interested in purchasing tickets, we recommend that you do so early on the day they are released. Please keep in mind that tours and shuttles accommodate only seven (7) people to ensure a personal experience. You may purchase up to seven tickets, however, if you are trying to buy tickets for more than four people, consider splitting your group and purchase tickets at two tour times.
Please note: Due to the unique mission of Sunnylands, public access may be limited or prevented during high-level retreats, thus requiring the cancellation of scheduled tours--even those already ticketed. In these rare cases, alternative tour dates will be proposed or refunds will be made promptly.
