Horticulture Experience: Designing Desert

Create a living desert terrarium in this horticultural workshop in the Sunnylands gardens.

Featuring the wide array of plants that thrive in a desert climate, participants will be introduced to the unique adaptations of cacti, succulents, and more during a brief lecture with Sunnylands' center director.

During the hands-on portion of the workshop, led by master gardener Ian Roberts-Santos, participants will then build their own terracotta terrarium to take home as a living work of art that reflects the desert ecosystem. Great for hobbyists.

Fee: $63 per guest. Space is limited. Registration required. Ages 14 and above. No horticulture or art experience necessary. Unregistered guests are not permitted. Materials: Gardening gloves required. Hand-pruners and safety glasses are recommended. All plants and potting materials are included in the class fee. Guests will be working with live plants, wire, and gardening tools.

Parking is free. Please arrive 15 minutes before the program start time. Sun protection and a reusable water bottle are recommended.
