Disaster Preparedness Day
In partnership with Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network, Sunnylands invites the public to learn about sudden disasters and how to prepare for them.
Disaster preparedness helps reduce harm during emergencies. By planning ahead, training, and having the right resources, you can respond quickly and protect lives, property, and communities. Being prepared allows individuals and communities to recover swiftly and effectively and be ready for future disasters.
Wednesday, March 5, 8:30 am-12 pm
The following local organizations and groups will be present to provide information and resources:
- Animal Samaritans: Owning pets during an emergency
- Rancho Mirage Emergency Preparedness Commission: Emergency response program
- Coachella Valley Water District: Responding to water advisories and preparing water supply for an emergency
- SoCalGas: Natural gas safety
- Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network: Bilingual resources for disaster preparedness
- Palm Desert High School Health Career Academy: Triage and first aid demonstrations
Guests are also encouraged to participate in a Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness game, designed to assess how well families and individuals are prepared for an emergency evacuation.





Water and sun protection are recommended for this outdoor event.
All activities are free of charge. Admission and parking are free. Reservations not required. Program changes may require the cancellation or rescheduling of some events.
Outdoor programs may be canceled or modified due to weather conditions, including rain, lightning, or strong winds.
