CV Days of Los Muertos—evening programs
Past Event
For the fifth year, Sunnylands in partnership with various organizations will celebrate Coachella Valley Days of Los Muertos. On Friday, November 2, the Center & Gardens will be open until 9 pm with special programming in celebration of Day of the Dead:
- 8:30 am – 9 pm: Crafts include monarch butterfly cut-outs that guests can color to decorate the gardens, and skull masks that guests can decorate and wear as they explore. Guests also can participate in a community display by completing the sentence “Before I die…” on colorful strips of paper, expressing their wishes for the future.
- 11 am – 8 pm: Ofrendas for Day of the Dead. Ofrendas are altars created to celebrate and honor the life of a loved one who has passed. Families are invited to participate in this drop-in workshop to create a mini altar with a variety of materials. Families may also bring small items of their own to represent the loved one being remembered. No reservations are required, this is a drop-in program. No art experience necessary. For additional information, please call 760.202.2254.
- 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Live music with musician David Macias. David Macias is an established musician from Southern California, best known for energetic performances filled with intricate acoustic guitar rhythms and bilingual lyrics.
