Coachella Valley Days of Los Muertos: Dance performance
On Sunday, November 7, the local dance group Danza Azteca Citlaltonac will give a special performance on the Great Lawn from 10 am to 11 am.
Day of the Dead celebrations have their roots in Aztec traditions and beliefs. Learn about these traditions through music and dance with Danza Azteca Citlaltonac. The group will explain the tradition of the Day of the Dead in Aztec culture and perform a series of dances, including a Miquiztli, a dance typically performed for the Day of the Dead. The performance will end with a “Blessing to the Four Winds.”
Established in 2007 in the Coachella Valley, and with its roots starting in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico, back in 1942, Danza Azteca Citlaltonac is an initiative that promotes Mexican heritage, rooted in ceremonial traditions.
This special performance takes place on Sunday, November 7, only. Admission and parking for this event are free. No reservations required.
All visitors will be required to wear a face covering while inside Sunnylands buildings. Face coverings are not required outdoors.
Center & Gardens hours are from 8:30 am to 4 pm, Wednesday through Sunday.
