Event Details
Sunnylands invites you to explore the art of sunprints (cyanotypes), one of the earliest and most accessible photographic printing methods.
The instructor will be guiding you through the blueprint process of creating a light-sensitive emulsions to cold-press watercolor paper and then contact printing an enlarged negative onto the treated surface. The process includes harnessing the sun’s power as the images are left in the UV light to develop, then rinsed with water to clear the image. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with 4 to 8 finished cyanotype prints.
This workshop is designed for all ages and is especially enjoyable for families.
Friday, February 13, from 11:30 am-1:30 pm.
Fee: $84.70 per participant. All materials required for this class are provided. Available to ages 18 and up or as young as 8 with an accompanying adult. Workshop fees are nonrefundable within 10 days prior to event.
Weather permitting, the workshop will take place outside. Sun protection, comfortable clothing, and water are recommended.
About the instructor: Rose Cefalu is a photography-obsessed creator who shares her work on Instagram (@joshuatreedesertrose, @rosecefaluphoto). She loves traveling, printing images, making candles, and experimenting with color. In 2019, she launched a cyanotype workshop to revive this vintage process for new audiences. Rose produces award-winning content and is currently the photography director at Emmy magazine. See her work at rosecefaluphoto.com.

Parking is free. Please arrive 15 minutes before the program start time. Stop by the reception desk to be shown where the class will be meeting.
