Art Workshop: Dry Pastels—An Introduction

This workshop will examine the various effects of pastels and provide attendees with beginning techniques for their use. The theme of the class will be a discussion on rendering close-up landscape using negative space.

Participants should bring the following materials:

  • A pad of pastel paper (tinted or not), size is optional
  • DRY PASTELS—no oil pastels please
  • Paper towels

This workshop takes place outside. Sun protection and water are recommended.

Fee: $15 per participant. Limited spaces.

Instructor:
International painter Gianne de Genevraye paints public gardens in Europe and the United States. She is a contemporary nature painter, exhibiting widely with her work seen in collections in France, Italy, Sweden, and the United States. A California native, she lives in France and Laguna Beach while participating in residencies at gardens around the world. Gianne’s focus is on painting in public gardens and exhibiting in public spaces. Gianne has embraced the concept of sustainability and is committed to help frame the discussion of conservation through the aesthetics of painting water-wise gardens.
