The Annenberg Working Group Toward HIV Cure, formed at the conclusion of the successful Summit on Private-Public Partnerships for Research Toward a Cure for HIV held November 6-8, 2013 at Sunnylands, convened a follow-up meeting in Boston on March 2, 2014.
Catalyzed by the meeting at Sunnylands, the group continued discussions to align the vision and efforts needed to achieve an HIV cure and further participated in identifying novel, public-private partnerships to share scientific expertise to accelerate research for a cure.
In Boston, 47 attendees from pharma, academia, government, and foundations, including delegates from France, Switzerland, Australia and Greece, came together to begin to implement the recommendations set forth in their collective statement – the Sunnylands Declaration on HIV Cure, which was presented to the White House and resulted in President Obama’s announcement of a $100-million initiative from the National Institutes of Health.
