London’s famed Victoria & Albert Museum, the world’s leading museum of art and design, is hosting a conversation between the renowned designer Michael Smith and Sunnylands Center & Gardens Director Janice Lyle on Monday, November 6.
“Sunnylands: Public Lives, Private Spaces” will take place in the museum’s Lydia & Mangred Gorvy Lecture Theatre at 7 p.m. For detailed information and to purchase tickets please visit the museum website.
Michael Smith, known for his work as the designer of the Obama White House, also designed the Great Room at Sunnylands Center & Gardens. Janice Lyle is the author of the newly-published book, Sunnylands: America’s Midcentury Masterpiece. The conversation will offer an inside look at how public figures design their private homes to express personal tastes and values.
Sunnylands founders Walter and Leonore Annenberg lived in Britain for many years when Walter was U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s. At Sunnylands, the Annenbergs’ winter home, they welcomed British royalty and prime ministers, along with U.S. presidents and other celebrities.
