The Minister of State for Trade Policy’s principal responsibilities include:

  • trade defence framework
  • World Trade Organization (WTO) engagement and reform
  • trade for development
  • delivering the Export Support Service

She also supports the Secretary of State with:

  • live free trade agreement negotiations
  • defending against market-distorting practices
  • trade elements of national security policy
  • UK Global Tariff (UKGT) policy
  • UK trade preferences scheme
  • climate change and COP26
  • EU member state engagement
  • Ministerial Forum for Trade engagement
  • departmental legislative activity
