Terence Chan

Terence is the Secretary General of the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong responsible for its day-to-day operation since its establishment in 2015. Before joining the Academy, he retired in 2014 from the Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2014 where his last appointment was the Assistant Commissioner for Innovation and Technology responsible for infrastructure and quality.
Professionally, Terence is an engineer with extensive experience in electrical and electronic engineering, electronics production as well as power plant design, improvement and maintenance. He was also active internationally in the field of laboratory, inspection body and certification body accreditation. He held various positions in the international accreditation community, including as the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation and an Executive of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation from 2008 to 2011.
