Protected: Michael Sullivan

Michael Sullivan is the economic counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Canberra, Australia, where he focuses on the breadth of the U.S.-Australia economic relationship. A career member of the senior U.S. Foreign Service, Sullivan has focused on economic policy throughout his career. Prior to serving in Canberra, Sullivan was the economic counselor to the U.S. Mission to the European Union, where he worked to deepen the transatlantic economic relationship–the largest and most comprehensive economic relationship in the world. He has also served tours in Berlin, Islamabad, Manila, Moscow, Stockholm, and Vienna.  Throughout his career, Sullivan has worked on energy security issues, including in Washington where he helped establish the Bureau of Energy Resources. Prior to joining the State Department, Sullivan worked with the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance.   

Sullivan holds a Master of Science in national security policy studies from the National War College, a Master of Arts in international relations from the George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and history from the University of Tennessee.
