Protected: Katie Elmore Mota

Katie Elmore Mota is an Emmy-nominated showrunner, producer, and director who was named one of the National Diversity Council’s Top 50 Women in Entertainment. She is the founder and co-president of Wise Entertainment. Wise Entertainment has a first-look deal with Amazon Studios for TV. 

Mota served as executive producer, co-showrunner, and director of East Los High, where she was nominated for six Emmy awards, including one for directing the finale event. The series ran for five seasons and comprised more than 60 episodes, making it Hulu’s longest-running original. Mota recently served as showrunner on Season 2 of Five Points, the Kerry Washington-produced drama series on Facebook Watch, as well as executive producer on Shine on with Reese, a docuseries featuring the stories of trailblazing women now airing on Netflix.  

Mota serves on the advisory board of Hollywood Health and Society through the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center. She is also a mentor for Women in Film, as well as a member of the WGA, DGA, and PGA. Katie penned a piece for Time Magazine’s Motto called ‘Diversity Is About More Than Checking Boxes.’ Prior to Wise Entertainment, Mota produced the 70-episode telenovela Último Año with MTV Latin America, and worked for seven years to develop and produce local programming in more than 15 countries around the world.
