Joaquín Coloma

Business Development Manager, Inkia Energy

Joaquín Coloma is deputy business development officer at Inkia Energy, one of the fastest growing electricity firms in Latin America. Inkia is the largest electricity generator in Peru and owns the largest electricity distribution company in Central America. For over 12 years, Joaquín has led or collaborated in various growth and value creation initiatives through greenfield projects and M&A transactions across the world for over $6 billion, with focus in Latin America. Before Inkia, Joaquin worked in various roles in the private equity and banking sectors covering multiple industries across Latin America, and later he held other business development roles in other industries in Peru before joining Inkia in 2010.

During this path, he gained experience on the varying market dynamics across Latin America. He has led teams comprised of professionals in many fields of expertise, and dealt with authorities, financial entities, and other stakeholders. His greenfield development expertise has earned Joaquín deep understanding of the main challenges an investor faces while trying to invest in Latin America. More recently, a significant share of Joaquín’s time has been devoted to developing an ambitious pipeline of non-conventional renewable energy projects across Inkia’s portfolio.

Joaquín holds a bachelor’s degree in business at Universidad del Pacifico and a Kellogg Master of Business Administration at Northwestern University. He also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program (CFA).
