Charles Eberly is an experienced frontier market energy investment professional. As Global Head of Coverage for CrossBoundary’s Energy Advisory practice, he leads of team based across Southern Africa and the Middle East / South Asia to provide transaction advisory services for local and international investors and capital seekers (project developers and utilities) in the utility scale and off-grid energy sectors. Charles serves as a trusted advisor in facilitating inbound foreign investment to multiple governments, including those of Afghanistan, Malawi, and Somalia.

Charles is a frequent panelist and conference speaker, recently speaking on frontier market private equity at Southern Africa Venture Capital and Private Equity annual conference, renewable energy trends at the Africa Economic Forum in New York, and private equity investing in energy at SuperReturn Africa.

Prior to CrossBoundary, Charles worked for Bloomberg New Energy Finance, the M&A team of an international firm investing in air, maritime, and land logistics assets across Africa, and Northern Trust’s Asia Pacific alternative investments practice based in Hong Kong.

He is a decorated United States Marine Corps infantry officer and veteran of the War in Afghanistan. Charles holds a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He was a Patrick Henry Honors Scholar at Hampden Sydney College, where he studied economics.
