Tai Chi on the Great Lawn
Tai chi at Sunnylands Center & Gardens is an opportunity to experience a traditional teaching of the Yang Family 108 Long Form. Participants learn the beginning positions of the form rooted in tai chi philosophy and principles. No previous experience with tai chi is required to begin this journey.
Tai chi is offered every Saturday at 10 am from November through April. The 60-minute sessions, held on the Great Lawn, are open to all ages and experience levels. Participants should dress comfortably. Sun protection and water are suggested.
On Saturday, April 27 at 10 am, Sunnylands Tai Chi on the Great Lawn presents the annual World Tai Chi Day demonstration of the 108 Yang family Tai Chi form. This event celebrates the traditional Tai Chi form brought to the Coachella Valley by Master Pao Peter Lee, and will offer the general public an opportunity to appreciate and enjoy the serenity and benefits of this practice.
For twenty years, on the last Saturday of April at 10 am local time, people have gathered to share a common vision of hope and healing for our planet. In hundreds of cities, spanning 80 nations and six continents, people come together to do Tai Chi and Qigong with the intention of providing a healing vision for our world. The 30-minute demonstration will be followed by a 30-minute Tai Chi lesson as part of the Saturday morning series offered at Sunnylands for the general public.
Classes are free and no reservations are required. For more information contact the Sunnylands education department at 760.202.2234 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
